The story

2035. Arthur Miller and Maria Kolt are thirty-three, married, and among the last people on Earth who still believe money is a kind of immortality. Their company built the infrastructure that lets the wealthy archive themselves against death — and quietly let the backups of everyone else lapse, unremembered, unrenewed. It works, until it doesn't.

When the global signal network fails in an event the survivors call the Breach, the discarded dead come home. Not as ghosts in the traditional sense — as bodies. Decaying, upright, and occupied by something far older than any grief, they drag themselves back through the wires and towers Arthur and Maria built, using every screen still drawing power as a door. Fleeing their collapsing tower on the coast, the couple moves through the wreckage of the cities that made them rich, learning the new world's only rule as they go: signal calls the dead, and only true silence can starve them.

But the world isn't finished with them yet. Somewhere in the wreckage waits Elena — the specific person Arthur let go, wearing her own face, carrying a debt he has spent years pretending he didn't owe. Maria carries a debt of her own, older and stranger, that has grown into something neither of them can outrun. As a presence far larger than any single ghost begins closing in on everything they used to own, Arthur and Maria are left with one unbearable choice: keep reaching for a way back to the life they built, or let it all go, together, into the quiet. The Firmament is a horror story about the bill that comes due when the dead you discard remember exactly who you are.

After the Breach

Characters

Arthur Miller

Male lead, 33 — signal architect, Axiom Corporation co-founder

A billionaire signal architect who helped build the immortality infrastructure that discarded the poor's backups, including his sister Elena's. Carries a hidden "null" signature as insurance against the system he built; must confront Elena's corpse-ghost and choose permanent silence.

Maria Kolt

Female lead, 33 — biotech co-founder, longevity clinics

Arthur's partner and co-architect of their empire, marked by a locked left-eyebrow scar. Secretly "saved" the first doorway-child with stolen nanites, an act of mercy that backfired catastrophically; becomes a Silence Surgeon severing the world's infrastructure.

Elena (Resurrected Accuser)

Arthur's dead sister, personal-judgment ghost

Arthur's sister, whose archived consciousness he authorized for deprecation. Returns as a real decaying corpse ridden by an ancient rider, using her exact face and voice for the film's central personal confrontation.

The Watcher

Greater demonic antagonist

A colossal, ancient principality manifesting as a fused mass of thousands of corpses across the sky and every screen; directs all lesser ghost manifestations and offers Arthur and Maria their old lives back in exchange for the final doorway.
